Care Guide
Lolomiri carries formal and occasion dresses built around delicate fabrics, hand-applied embellishments, and structured details. Because each piece may use different materials and construction, the care instructions printed on your garment's label or listed on its specific product page always take priority over the general guidance below. Use this guide as a starting point for everyday handling and for knowing when to stop and ask for help.
Find Your Garment's Own Instructions First
Before you clean, steam, or store a dress, locate its care label. On most Lolomiri pieces this is sewn into an inner side seam or the bodice lining. If the label is missing or unreadable, check the product page where you purchased the item. Some dresses also arrive with a printed tag attached to the packaging or a matching accessory such as a scarf or veil.
Handling After an Event
Formal dresses with beading, sequins, lace, and appliques need gentle treatment right after wear, before you decide on cleaning.
- Unfasten zippers, hook-and-eye closures, and any removable clasps before removing the garment so hardware does not catch on lace or mesh.
- Turn the dress inside out when possible to protect the outer embellished surface from friction.
- Hang on a padded or wide hanger rather than a thin wire hanger. Wire hangers can create shoulder bumps and put stress on spaghetti straps or thin sleeves.
- If the fabric is a lightweight knit or chiffon-feel material, folding it flat in a drawer is also acceptable as long as the fold does not crease beaded or sequined sections.
- Keep the garment away from direct sunlight and damp areas while it rests before storage or cleaning.
Dealing with Small Spills and Marks
When a spot appears on a delicate embellished dress, act conservatively:
- Blot—do not rub—with a clean, dry, white cloth to lift excess liquid before it sets.
- If the stain is on plain fabric away from beads, sequins, or lace, you may dab the area lightly with a cloth dampened with cool water. Test on an inconspicuous inner seam first; this is a cautious step, not a guarantee that the full area will tolerate water.
- Do not apply household cleaners, bleach, alcohol, or strong solvents to unknown stains on embellished or sheer sections.
- Stop and seek professional help if the spill has soaked through to the lining, touched a large beaded panel, or involves a colored liquid you cannot identify.
Caring for Embellishments and Sheer Details
Several Lolomiri dresses include 3D floral appliqués, pearl-style beading, sequin overlays, scalloped lace edges, and sheer mesh sleeves. These elements require specific attention:
- Avoid pulling, tugging, or pressing flat on appliqués and beaded sections. If a bead or sequin loosens, do not attempt to reattach it with glue; note the location and contact support.
- Keep sharp jewelry, handbag clasps, and rough-textured accessories away from lace and mesh surfaces during wear to prevent snags.
- Matching scarves and veils included with a set may be made from a different fabric than the dress. Store them together but check each piece's own label for separate instructions.
Storage Between Wears
- Store in a breathable garment bag or a clean cotton pillowcase. Avoid sealed plastic bags, which trap moisture and can promote discoloration on delicate fabrics.
- Do not compress embellished bodices under heavier garments in a closet. Hang beaded or sequined pieces at the front or in their own section.
- For long-term storage, keep the area cool, dry, and dark. Fold or roll rather than hang if the garment is very heavy with beadwork, to avoid stretching the shoulder seams under the weight of the embellishments.
When to Use a Professional Service
For any dress with extensive beading, sequins, lace overlay, or 3D appliqués, a qualified dry cleaner experienced with embellished garments is the safest option for a full clean. Before handing over the piece, point out any stains, loose beads, or concerns so the cleaner can protect those areas. Do not assume a standard dry-cleaning process is appropriate for every fabric combination; share your care label with the cleaner and ask how they will handle the specific materials.
